High school students design, build, and deliver every kit. Schools and community organizations in Columbus, Cleveland, and nearby counties receive them at no cost.
How it works
Three steps. Nothing to buy, nothing to prepare.
We build the kits
Students design each kit and pack it by hand. Every kit has two activities, all materials, and instructions.
You tell us your numbers
A school or organization tells us how many students it serves and their grade level.
We deliver, free
We bring the kits in person. Students open the bag, build, and find out what they think of engineering.
Every kit is a different build
Circuits, solar-powered cars, biology, environmental science. Each kit is built around a real project a student can finish on their own. The one pictured is a sail car.
$25 in materials makes one kit. Students donate all of the labor.
Started by students, for students
Future Spark began as a class project in Columbus. The idea: many kids decide they are not "an engineering person" before they have ever built anything. A kit lets them try first.
Today we serve schools and community organizations in Columbus and Cleveland, and we are expanding to counties like Fairfax.
Next goal: 1,000 kits
300 delivered so far. The next 700 reach ten or more schools across Ohio.
